My family and I have a cruise planned for late August-early September 2024 and will stop in Turkey. While there, we would like to book a private tour of Ephesus with a local guide that is a Christian. The guide being a Christian is important. Any help, suggestions, tips is much appreciated!
There are several biblical focused private tours, Christian focused private tours, and at least one Christian tour company available via google research. The requested orientation for the guide does not figure prominently in any of the offerings. Are you sure that such is essential? Guides have been professional, informative and respectful throughout my travels in Turkey.
A month ago we visited Ephesus and it was great! My wife and I enjoyed exploring the site on our own while our friends had a private tour that pretty much explained things in a fashion similar to the Rick Steves' Istanbul Guide - which we had already read. My recommendation is to do your research/reading about the site in advance and then explore it on your own. I'm no expert but hiring a tour guide ends up with them in control of your time rather than you. Either way you will enjoy and be amazed by Ephesus. BTW - don't miss the House of the Virgin Mary, the Basilica of St. John, and the Temple of Artemis. All are nearby.
Thank you both for the helpful information and suggestions, much appreciated!
