We're getting ready to head to our April 8 Best of Turkey tour, and I wanted to send out a greeting to the rest of the group! We've been on one previous RS tour - Best of Eastern Europe - and loved it. Right now I'm working on increasing my cardio fitness - Joe and I can walk 6 miles at a shot, but I need to do more stairs. Looking forward to meeting you and I'm hoping to do a balloon trip in Cappodocia (sp) with tour-mates. Joe will pass on this. Anyone else planning on it?

My son and I are going on this tour in September. We are both looking forward to the hot air balloon (well, I am looking forward to it and my son has agreed to participate).

I just read your response in the other post about walking poles. I think you will be glad to have them with you. Who is your guide? Mine was Taylan...we all learned so much from him and liked him tremendously too!
You will have a wonderful trip I’m sure. Are you arriving early or staying after?
Yes, I did the hot air balloon ride, so peaceful and gentle, a great experience. I’m glad I did it even though I was nervous.

Try to talk Joe into the hot air balloon ride. It’s the experience of a lifetime and not the least bit scary. I was a little hesitant myself but I am so glad that I didn’t miss this.
The balloon rises off the ground so slowly that you’re barely aware that you are lifting off. Gradually you realize that you are slowly floating, with amazing views below. It’s so quiet and peaceful. The balloon lands just as gently.

I will be on the April 8th tour as well. I have been in touch with another of our tour mates who has kindly offered the use of her hand if I get too scared of heights on the balloon trip but despite the fact that I don't like heights - I'm going to do it!
I'll be arriving in Turkey a week before the tour starts. If the two of you, or any other of our tour mates arrive early, it would be fun to try to get together.

Hi Tracy and Patti. We are arriving Sunday the 7th midday, hopefully, since we'll be in the middle of the airport relocation. We're staying that night at the first hotel on the tour. And thanks all for the balloon encouragement!

All: good luck on arrivals in Istanbul. That airport change may be challenging. Luck to all of us arriving during the weekend before the tour!

Good morning all,
I received an email (and several text messages) from Turkish Airlines confirming that my flight will be landing at the New Istanbul Airport (I scheduled to arrive on April 6 in the early evening).
