Trouble getting a visa

My son and I will be in Turkey in late May. I filled out all the info on the official Turkish government site (https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/) for our visas, but the confirmation email never came. (I looked in spam and trash folders.) I tried all this twice. Has this happened to anyone else? There is also another visa site, that looks like the government one but appears to charge a slightly greater fee for the visa. Does anyone have experience with that? Thanks!

Was your credit card charged? If not, you might just want to wait and get your visa when you arrive. That's what I did (many years ago) and it went very quickly.

If it has been charged, you can try contacting the website to see if there is a problem. Or check your application status here: https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/status

When I applied for my visa (April, 2022) I first received (within minutes, maybe seconds) an "E-mail address verification message." Did you receive this?

After verifying my email address, it took 12 minutes to fill out the visa application and receive notice that my e-Visa was ready to download.

My friend had difficulty applying for her visa on her iphone or ipad (I can't recall which.) She had no trouble on her laptop.

You might also try a different browser. Some websites work better with one browser vs another.

I never got to the credit card payment stage. It said I would get an email confirmation and proceed from there. I never received the email. It's a good idea to try another browser. I'm also relieved to know I could just buy the visas when I arrive. Thanks!

I would advise against waiting until you arrive. I went to Turkey in 2019 and the airline required the visa to board the plane. At that time the Turkish government was also requesting people not wait until arrival.

Did you try to use the same email address for both visas? If so, that may be your problem. I tried that a few years back, and it didn't work. I eventually contacted them, and they explained that each visa has to use a separate email address.

You should definitely stick to the the official site.

(BTW, I got a Turkish visa a couple of days ago with no problem)

I had trouble too. Tried three times. Never received the confirmation. Contacted the Turkish visa website. They suggested not only to try a different browser but also a different email address like Gmail or AOL. It worked. I paid and received my visa. On a side note, I tried contacting the hotel where my Best of Istanbul tour is staying. They tried to respond to my ATT email address but email wasn't working. Maybe something to do with ATT.

Oh I've had all kinds of trouble with my AT&T email addresses not being recognized as valid by international spam filters. I created a gmail address that I now use for all travel, especially international.

Thanks, everyone, for these replies. It never worked on Chrome with my gmail, but I switched to Firefox and used my work email and - voila! Weird. We are all set now.

Thanks for the update and I am glad that you received your visa prior to leaving the US.
