Travelling to Istanbul for a month !

Hie everyone ,

I'm a 25 years old solo traveller planning to go to Istanbul , cappadocia and other day trips from Istanbul ! My areas of interest are nightlife, adventure and general sight seeing. Is one month to long for my trip ? Is the city safe for tourists to travel ? How is the nightlife in Istanbul ? Is it as magical as it used to be a couple of years ago ?

Really looking forward for your replies!

My travel months would be 25th august 2017 to 25th September 2017.

I am not sure the nightlife in Istanbul would be what I would like as a 25 year old. I would prefer Spain or Amsterdam.
Istanbul is a beautiful city with much to do and see.
I wouldn't want to do a day trip to Capadocia from Istanbul. That area should have its own night or two.
I enjoyed several weeks in Turkey. It is a beautiful country.

Hi Diane ,

Thank you for your reply , so being a 25 year old , you think I should plan Europe first and turkey maybe a little later ?

I would be a bit cautious while doing your nightlife tour of Turkey. Be aware that there are many, many factors in your safety and you don't want to find yourself alone and. well, in any personal danger. Take precautions, mind your whereabouts, keep your boundaries, be gentle as a dove and wise as a serpant. I was told once before I went to Turkey, "Don't go to a disco by yourself," and while I had no attention to do so (I'm a LOT older than you :), I did note that due to the slightly oriental nature of Turkey, we westerners are still out of the loop a bit (welcomed, by all means, but still not fully in the groove of the east). I'd say a month in Turkey would be fantastic! You would even need more to enjoy the lucious historical and cultural stuff there. Please be careful, don't be too trusting, keep folks at home in the know of your whereabouts, and may God bless you!

I can't tell you where to go first. Just be very cautious with the nightlife in Istanbul. As someone else mentioned some beach cities, I would lean more toward nightlife there rather than Istanbul.

With a month to spend, I recommend making a loop around more of the country. There is so much diversity of both historic and natural attractions. Both buses and local flights are affordable. In addition to Rick Steves Istanbul, I'd use the Lonely Planet Turkey guidebook (new Feb, 2017 edition) for wider coverage.
