Hello all! I am planning a trip to Istanbul in October and was planning to end up in Amsterdam. I usually plan my trip, then go to this forum if I want help on anything in particular with my trip. HOWEVER, this time, I decided before I make any specific plans, I would come here first for advice on countries to visit and what to see BEFORE I make any plans in stone. My time frame is about a month and I plan to leave around Oct 18th, 2026. Other than that, I have done nothing. The reason I came here first is because in the past, I have planned everything, then after the fact, I get EXCELLENT information from this forum of places to go, how to get there, what to see, what not to miss, etc, but it is after I have made plans and it wouldn't fit in my already planned agenda. So, I would like any advice, tips, tricks, etc from all of you before I begin my journey. I am open to any countries between Turkey and the Netherlands and anything that any of you think is something not to be missed. Thanks to all . . .

Perhaps read the posted Trip Reports and view the Scrap Books as a start. See what interested you and gets you excited, then once you have a draft itinerary, post it here for input. Have fun planning!

Hi Pat,
I have many varied interests and have done some research already. What I am interested in, is what others have experienced. I am open to anything. I have always found unique experiences from others here that I would never have considered. I am not a "foodie", so traveling the world looking for unique foods don't interest me. I like architecture, historical sites and events, and as I mentioned unique things and places. I also do Geocaching and finding unique caches at places I am going to interests me.

I didn't see how you wanted to travel, and seeing that your previous trip was to Denmark didn't help.
So how do you want to travel the quite long way from Istanbul to Amsterdam?
In a straight line it is around 2,700 km, further if you digress for intermediate stops.
Fly, trains, various car rentals?
In your month of travel, how many bases did you have in mind?
