Personal Travel Guide for Istanbul

Rick Steves has a guidebook for Istanbul.

DK Eyewitness Travel Top 10 Istanbul. Rick's are OK but then you only get what Rick mentions and there is so much more.

Isn’t the OP looking for a guide, not a guide book but a human being type of guide?

I travelled Istandbul independently, but the website 'Tours by Locals' may help. When I used it for Egypt it was only independent guides who did tailor made tours, but now seems to include short tours...or at least a framework for tours. Seems more TripAdvisor- or Viator -ish for my preference, but still lists and reviews private guides.
Hope others here have actual names.

Sorry. I read “guide” as shorthand for “guidebook”. Istanbul is easy to do on your own without a guide.

While you can visit Istanbul on your own, it is a city that benefits from a local guide.

We were in Istanbul in 2012 on our own. We used the guidebook for the “usual” sights but hired a guide from SRM Travel for the Alternative Istanbul tour. This tour covered areas that weren’t in the typical guidebook and gave us context for modern Istanbul. It was a day-long tour and well worth it.
