Travel from Kusadasi Turkey to Crete

Looking for suggestions on planning a September (12 days in Turkey?) trip to Istanbul-Cappadocia-Antalya-Ephesus and then on to a timeshare (7days) in Crete. Would like to include a one night gullet sail on the Med. We plan on touring Istanbul and Crete (car rental) on our own and do know the highlights there. Would like suggestions for ferry/flying/hiring tour guide on getting around Turkey for approx 12 day. Thanks

I took the RS tour of Turkey recently. There's so much to see in Istanbul, I think 3 days would be a minimum. It's very easy to get around the city on foot and by tram. We took the tour bus from there onward. The drives were quite long, 4-5 hours, maybe more. You may want to consider flying to Cappadocia (wonderful place). Ephesus was excellent, try to be there when they open. Many on our tour liked Aphrodisias even more, though I think it may be more difficult to get to by public transportation.

I can personally recommend Rock Valley Travel, based out of Cappadocia. Atacan, and his lovely wife, have been running a small, fully accredited, travel agency there for several years now. They can put together a program for you - just contact them with your dates and what you'd like to do. I've found them to be very good and reasonably priced. They love to travel too (they're just wrapping up a neat trip to Nepal and India).
