Transport between Cappadoica and Antalya

I'm struggling with which option is best between these two places. There is a bus, we could fly, we could rent a car (no, don't really want to) or we could take a private transfer.
Just wondering if anyone has done this and what the Turkey folks would recommend. I realize it's quite a distance, like maybe 10 hr drive. TIA!

Hi Tammy, I just noticed this post. I was on a RS tour so maybe not the best person to advise you, but FWIW, the tour takes two days by bus between Cappadocia and Antalya (via Konya). They were reallllly long bus days. If it were me I'd fly just so I could get in the Mediterranean faster :)

We flew from Cappadocia to Antalya via Istanbul years ago, via the old airport. Flights were relatively inexpensive and the connection was easy.

I didn’t travel directly between Antalya and Cappadocia, but I did take the bus pretty much all over Turkey and really enjoyed it a lot. It was nice to relax and just sit there, the scenery was wonderful to see, and I had some really interesting encounters on the buses. It was a lot of fun. Plus they pamper you, they spritz you with scented water, you can watch a movie on the screens, and recline. And this was back in 2007 so I would imagine it’s probably gotten a bit more sophisticated since then.

Having said that, it is a much slower process than flying. You will mostly find Turks on the buses. I very rarely saw an American on one, so I guess it depends on what you’re looking for.

My sister and I took a bus from Cappadocia the other direction to Pamukale. It was an over night and long. There was no train service there so we just went into the zone ( tip sit up front ) away from the bathroom. The bus was very nice even if the assistant to the driver was short with us.

While in Turkey in 2023 for 3 weeks, traveling by bus, trains and in a rental car— the one transfer I figured we had to do by air was between Antalya and Cappadocia. We flew from Antalya to Nevsehir and stayed in Goreme.

The bus journey from Antalya to Cappadocia took just too many hours to consider it, and by buying our air tickets months in advance the flight ran a ridiculously low price—about $30 each. Of course, it’s much more than that now but still a bargain when you factor in the value of time.
