We will be in Istanbul in April and are wondering if it is better to figure out the logistics ourselves for Cappadocia or book a tour?

I know what my decision was; I booked the Rick Steves Best of Turkey tour that includes Cappadocia on the itinerary. I love traveling solo and usually figure everything out myself, but I was traveling to Turkey with a friend and I didn't want to be responsible for the logistics of someone else.
