We are looking for a 1 night stay in the Taxism area. We are leaving for our morning flight home the next day so we wanted a shorter commute to the airport.

We stayed at the Conrad Hilton last month. It was a short walk to Istiklal street and easy for the taxi to pick us up for the airport drive.
Some hotels are on no car streets and you would have to walk around the corner to get the taxi.

Taksim Square area isn't necessarily a shorter commute to the airport, other than I believe there is a more direct airport bus that leaves from that area. Public transport will take a bit longer than a private shuttle or taxi, but depending on your flight time you may still hit traffic.
