Glad you found the information useful.
I stayed at Eski Masal for two weeks a couple of years ago. It's family owned and operated. It has seven spacious guest rooms, each unique, constructed from two Ottoman houses. There is a pool and a courtyard. Everyone was very friendly, and I would stay there again without hesitation.
I have also stayed for two weeks at Defne Suites, which I booked through AirBnB. It's a restored Ottoman house owned and operated by a young couple that lives upstairs, and they rent two apartments downstairs. The couple is very friendly and helpful. There is also a small courtyard. The apartment was spotless with a large living room and kitchen. There was one small bedroom with a double bed. It's very much like staying at someone's house -- very pleasant, though. Although it was less luxurious than Eski Masal, it was also a lot cheaper. I would stay there again.
Some other places that looked interesting while I was there:
My neighbors stayed at the Argos Hotel and said that there was a lot of noise from nearby nightclubs. I didn't experience excessive noise at either of the places I stayed, but it is something to be aware of when you are choosing a hotel in Kaleici.
Some of the 3-star hotels and pensiones looked a little iffy to me.
I stayed at the Hotel 1207 Special Class in Kaleici right around the corner from Hadrians Gate. It was wonderful and they took delightfully good care of me. It was an incredible value in a historic Ottoman building.
