We decided to fly from Istanbul to Kayseri to get to Cappadocia. Should we rent a car at the Kayseri Airport to drive to Görme? Or take a hotel shuttle to Görme? Do we need a car to drive around to different sights and towns of Cappadocia?

Probably rent a car would be the better option if you are planning on touring Cappadocia without a tour guide. You will need a car if you don't want to pay for the tours offered. Most popular tours are the Green Tour, the Red tour, Turkish night and Balloon flight ( for which you have to book a tour and a shuttle picks you up from the hotel to take you to the balloon take off spot). It is better to get familiar with the the tour itineraries, so you can follow what is the best thing to do and see in Cappadocia. If you just want to explore Cappadocia, you may walk, and maybe book the ATV tours for few hours, so you can drive to some tourist attractions. I strongly recommend the Balloon flights, which you can book starting day 1, since they often get cancelled depending on the weather and wind. Hope this helps. Have fun!
