I'm looking for recommendations for a local guide in Istanbul for a few days prior to a Rick Steve's Best of Turkey tour. Any suggestions?

We hired Serhat Engul for a couple of days last fall. He was great (and we found his website helpful, too). We hired him for one day in Sultanahmet and a half day in Fener and Balat.
I would happily work with him again.

My wife and I are on the 4/18/22 tour. While we are not doing a pre tour tour, limited time, we are doing a food tour through SRM Travel. They are the company that manages the RS tours in Turkey. Contact [email protected] for the details. If your going after us and are interested, let me know, and I will give you a review after the tour.
Happy Travels.
We just got back from Istanbul and hired Furkan from Private Istanbul Walking Tours. He was EXCELLENT!!! We told him we were most interested in learning about Turkish culture, politics, and regular life in Istanbul. He gave us exactly what we wanted, and even checked with us several times during the tour to make sure that he was focusing his tour the way that we wanted. Furkan had us stop to try local food throughout the day, including a fantastic huge meal with 20+ different dishes at a restaurant where the chef/owner (who was featured in Chef's Kitchen on Netflix) hugged and greeted him very warmly. He left us with several more recommendations that were excellent, including a mosque that we hadn't planned to see, but it turned out to be our favorite (Rustem Pasha). We've been on dozens of guided tours and Furkan was one of the best...and he was inexpensive too!
