Private Tour Guides for Istanbul

Hello,

I noticed in the Rick Steves Istanbul Guide there were several suggestion for private tour guides.
I was possibly interested in Nilay Turkeli or Unal K Taner. Has anyone used either of these guides in Istanbul? Can you tell me a little bit about them.
Thank you

Hi,
I wanted to add one other name I got for a private guide. Did any of you have Burak Ozdur as your guide?
Thanks

My wife and I spent 1 day with Nilay Cagli Turkeli last October. She is in her early 30's. Very knowledgeable about Istanbul and Turkish history. We did a walk through the back streets of the Grand Bazaar, seeing a couple of artisans at work, but unfortunately several were not working that day. Visited the Mosque of Suleyman the Magnificent where she pointed out alot of details I did not recall from a guidebook. Also took the ferry to the Kadikoy neighborhood where she lives and ate lunch at a local restaurant away from the touristy waterfront area. We let her know about some of our interests and she organized the day as to what to do first, when to meet the ferry, etc. It was our first full day in Istanbul before we met the RS tour, and we believe she provided a good introduction to Turkey. We also enjoyed her perspective as a young female living in a predominantly Muslim country.

Thank you Ron for the information. I emailed Nilay with a few questions a week ago and she did not respond. I will be getting someone else for a private day tour.
