For those interested in the history of the inter-war years of Istanbul, Netflix has a new series coming out on March 3rd, based on the non-fiction book above. I highly recommend Midnight at the Pera Palace as it tells a lot the Turkish and Baltic area and refugees after the Great War. In the US, we tend only to focus on Germany and Western Europe. Also I never knew that Istanbul was almost as decadent as Berlin in the twenties and even Ernest Hemingway stayed there.
The show itself is about a modern journalist who finds a time portal in the hotel and travels back to 1919 and gets mixed up in a plot against Ataturk. Not usually a fan of Turkish dramas but this looks better than most.
