Mailing items home

I will be in Turkey next week and think that I will need to mail items back home. Has anyone used regular mail to mail items back to Canada or the States.

I've mailed items home from many countries, but I think Turkey was not one of them. Istanbul does have UPS offices; it might be worth checking prices there. Are you less comfortable with the mailing system wherever you are now?

My boss mailed items from Italy, not sure of the method or shipper. It took 3 weeks for him to get them. The box was stuck in customs for awhile, it may have lost as well.

I have shipped items to my husbands family in Ireland from the Vatican, they did reach them.

One of the cheapest and most reliable ways to send items abroad is to use the post office here(PTT).They will provide suitable packaging materials and have a range of postal systems available:They also have an online tracking system you can keep an eye on too.I frequenly use it to send items to America,Australia and the U.K and no problems to date.

If you purchase a large item in Turkey, like a carpet or ceramics, I would let the merchant ship it; have done that a few times.
