Luggage storage near Sogutlucesme train station

We are arriving at IST at 14:20. We plan to take a taxi to Sogutlucesme train station to catch the high speed train to Ankara leaving at 17:50. Where can we park our luggage for a couple of hours so we can eat in Kadikoy?

rseedy2 - Leave your bags at Sirkeci Train station lockers, very convenient. Take the metro from the airport to Yenikapi and the Marmaray metro from Yenikapi to Sirkeci train station where the lockers are. From Sirkeci, take ferry or Uber to Kadikoy. It takes 16 minutes by Uber from Sirkeci to kadikoy.

Thank you, but I do not see a metro from the new airport, and the train station is on the Asian side. I am 80 years old and have no desire ( or ability) to haul my luggage on public transport. There are no lockers in the high speed rail terminal, so are there any close by,as in the bus station?

You can leave your luggage/baggage at Istanbul‘s Atatürk International Airport in the Emanet Bagaj (left luggage/baggage check) office of either the Domestic or the International terminals.

Arriving on a flight, after you pass Customs and emerge from the secure area, turn right and walk toward the end of the terminal. The left luggage/baggage check office is on the right-hand side. Your luggage must be locked when you give it in for safekeeping.

Thank you again, but Ataturk Airport closed this year. The new Istanbul Airport is by the Black Sea, and public transport is not adequate.

Why don’t you fly from Istanbul to Ankara? Seems like it would be easier, since you will already be at the Istanbul Airport. Your current plan give you 3.5 hours to get to the train station on the Asian side of Istanbul. I doubt you will have time to put your luggage anywhere and have lunch in Kadiköy. You barely have enough time to exit the airport, claim your luggage, then taxi to the Asian side.

We are changing trains in Eskişehir to take the sleeper train to Izmir, but thank you everyone. We have decided to just have a car and driver for the afternoon, as the question of luggage storage seems unanswered.

Thank you. I do not yet have anyone in mind. This is a work in progress and I do not plan on finalizing arrangements for some time. I would be delighted to have your suggestions, but I may not act upon them for some time. It is always helpful to have someone’s personal knowledge in these matters

Leave your luggage in new Istanbul Airport, there are luggage storage places it was mentioned above. Take the bus from new airport to Kadikoy. It takes you to right centre of Kadikoy. There is no train at new airport. Kadikoy to Sogutlucesme is close by walk. 20 min walk. I would recommend you to see 'Barlar Sokagi' in Kadikoy.

Is being built. It should be opened in two years.
