We have a flight April 30th from Rome to LA with a layover in Istanbul, 22 hours. We were planning on using that time to sight see and stay in a hotel but now I am concerned with the recent bombing in Istanbul. Am I able to change my flight if it isn't safe to go? What is everyone opinions on continuing as planned?

As a local travel blogger, please check my former comments about safety in Turkey.
If you are landing to Ataturk Airport then you can stay in a nice hotel, close to the airport such as Wow Hotels (5min by car), then you can think about to visit the main highlights of Istanbul. Many of the tourist highlights are close to each other and in walking distance.
