Looking for nice lodging near the airport for our last night before flying back to the U.S in mid-November. Thinking about one of the beach towns along the Black Sea. We will have already spent several days in Istanbul itself and will be flying back there from Izmir the day before our departure home. Was thinking why go back into central Istanbul for our last night if we can find a place near the airport that is more than just an airport hotel. Any suggestions/recommendations will be appreciated.

It looks like there are some hotels on the Black Sea, but I haven't had any experience with them.
The Yotel inside the airport is super convenient, and you can use the free time to visit the (very nice) museum inside the airport.

I am thinking the same KBK. Arriving from Izmir on Sep 17 around 11am and home-bound flight is at 6am next day so want to be near airport prior night. I saw a cluster of hotels south of the airport as well as along the coast, but read elsewhere that taxis might be difficult to get at the coastal hotels that early in the morning (or would need to rely on hotel staff to drive you to airport).
We leave for Turkey on Sep 1, with a group until Sep 17. I am also considering hiring a car+driver for the 17th to potentially explore the area west of Istanbul or drive along the coast towards Bulgaria or ???. Depends on our energy, mood, and battle between wanting to stay longer in Turkey versus desire to get home :)
