Amazon shows kindle reader version but only shows it available as a sample. I'm trying to but it so I have it available as a download. Has anyone else had a similiar problem?

Not sure what you're referring to but since you posted in Turkey I assume it's the Istanbul guidebook you're trying to buy on Amazon. I went to Amazon and I'm able to buy the Kindle version and it says nothing about only a sample so I'm not sure what your problem might be.

Not sure what the problem was before but it went thru using my computer instead of my iphone app

You cannot buy Kindle books using the Amazon app - you must open a browser on your phone, then go to the Amazon website to order it. That's why it went through on your computer and not your phone.
This is because Apple insists on getting a cut of the eBook sales from any app on their phones, and Amazon does not want to pay this.
