We are considering the Best of Turkey tour followed by the Greece tour in May. The Turkey tour ends in Kusadasi and the Greece tour starts in Athens. There doesn't seem to be a direct route. Any suggestions to get from Kusadasi to Athens in one day? Thanks.
A few years ago we flew from Athens to the Greek island of Samos, and took the ferry from there to Kusadasi, so presumably the reverse itinerary could work for you. (Also involved a taxi as the airport is across the island from the ferry landing). Both the flight and the ferry were fairly short trips. The ferry was about 1½ hr, the flight was more like an hour.
We also had a wonderful afternoon wandering around Samos waiting for the next ferry. PS HIGHLY recommend the best of Turkey tour, which we did as part of a separate vacation in 2012.
There is a connection required either way. The Samos plan is better if you have time to spend there. See http://www.feribot.net/feribot/?lang=en for Kusadasi-Samos ferry schedules and tickets They usually leave about 9:00 a.m. Your guide will also help everyone who wants to buy ferry tickets at the end of the tour, which several people usually do. See www.skyscanner.com for flights to Athens.
Otherwise, the tour bus will drop a group at Izmir airport in the morning, from where you can fly to Athens with a connection in Istanbul on Pegasus or Turkish airlines; I currently see rates as low as $85.
