My girlfriend and I are taking a day trip break from our Istanbul trip to fly to Izmir. We leave on first flight in AM to Izmir and return same day back to Istanbul on last flight of evening.
We would like to hire a private English speaking guide to pick us up at airport and show us as much as can be seen in a day including Ephesus etc. Does anyone have any tips/recommendations?
You can get to Ephesus on your own by train from Izmir airport to Selcuk, then get a local guide there at the archeological site. I would do that first upon arrival.

We recently flew from Istanbul to Izmir and rented a car and went to Selcuk to go to Ephesus... FYI...the flight from Istanbul to Izmir was on time and fantastic! We got a rental car without any hassle at the modern Izmir airport-very fast, efficent-
There were so many folks at Ephesus site offering tours-you can easily get one. Also near Ephesus is an amazing carpet making coop.
