HI, I would like to travel from Izmir, stop at Ephesus for afew hours, and then onto Bodrum all on the same day. All the tour companies seem to start and end in the same place. I don't particularly want a private driver due to cost. Does anyone know any tour companies that go in one direction? Or is it public bus to Selcuk and figure out how to get to Ephesus, then public bus to Bodrum?

They supply the guides for Rick Steves tours in Turkey. They also do custom trips, I know several people in this forum have used them for that service. Sometimes they're hard to get a hold of, if you don't hear back by email, try calling.
