Hello! Already excited to go to Turkey September 2024. Thinking Seattle to Bodrum, rent a car drive to Ephesus, then along the coast to Alacati and then Izmir. Fly from Izmir to Cappadocia. Then fly Cappadocia to Istanbul. Istanbul for five days. I would love your input and thoughts. Seems a bit clunky but entirely doable. Likely 16 days.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Hello, the plan looks nice. but istanbul is a very lively and different city than others. So if you make istanbul the last stop; i worry that u will not give the energy it deserves
Good point! I was sort of thinking it would be nice to recover from jet lag at the beach! And it will cool down a little more by the end. Thank you!
I think this is doable too, but would recommend you stop in Istanbul just for a couple nights before you head to the Aegean. It is a long, long flight just to get to Istanbul, so being able to take a shower, change clothes and head out to dinner in one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the world seems a good plan to me. The next morning you're looking at the Bosphorus, Haghia Sophia, the Golden Horn . . . no getting away from where you are. Bodrum, as nice as it is, could be a resort anywhere in the Mediterranean. And having just a taste of Istanbul will help you plan your time at the end.
I think it is too much to stay 5 days in Istanbul. You spend more time in other places to rest.
