Istanbul visit during Eid-ul-Adha (Kurban Bayramı)

Hello, RS community,
We'd happen to visit Istanbul during Eid-ul-Adha this year. That makes us nervous since sites and bazaars might be closed for at least three days of the observance (June 16-19). We have June 15-20 (not including travel days) to explore. There are four of us, including two young kids. I'm looking for suggestions on structuring the itinerary around the closures or possible alternatives. Thanks everyone!

I have no idea what is likely to be closed during that period. I'd hit the websites of the primary places I wanted to see (perhaps Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofiya and the Grand Bazaar for starters) to see whether holiday closings are listed.

I'd be very surprised if mosques are closed. There are five prayer times every day. And the Topkapi Palace must be a massive revenue-generator, so I highly doubt that it shuts down for three days. I'd say the same for the also-costly (by Istanbul standards) Basilica Cistern.

The Istanbul old city (especially) is a very different environment from what you will have seen in western Europe. There will be a great deal to see outdoors. If you have time, a trip on a ferry (or a sightseeing boat) up the Bosphorus is very enjoyable.

Thanks acraven! These are some excellent starting points. Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market are closed for three days per my inquiries. I'll check the schedule of other places. And, yes, mosques won't be closed, just too crowded, perhaps. Thanks!
