Hi all, Want to take the RS one week tour of Istanbul and then visit Rhodes and Symi, but the logistics seem extremely complicated!
Has anyone done this and do you have any advice. It just doesn't seem easy to get to Rhodes from Istanbul. We are trying to avoid a back an additional back and forth to Athens cost to our trip?
Suggestions??
According to Rome2rio app, the flight from Istanbul is 84$ to 180ish. Not sure how accurate it is but check it out.
The problem is that those flights all fly thru Athens-nothing seems to go straight to Rhodes. With Athens layover, it takes much of the day. Frustrating.
Still looking at other combinations!
Thanks for replying

It probably isn't. Greece and Turkey is one of those country pairs (others are Spain and Portugal, and Croatia and Italy), that seem "natural and easy" to those of us in the US, but that are surprisingly difficult to combine in one trip. Connecting some parts of Greece to some parts of Turkey is easy, but that's certainly not true of much of the two countries.
You can look at flights on Skyscanner for your exact dates https://www.skyscanner.com/ (not all flights are daily), but I wouldn't be surprised if you have to change in Athens.
Flying any route will be faster than a 12-hour bus ride from Istanbul to Marmaris or Fethiye to catch a ferry to Rhodes.
I took the ferry from Marmaris to Rhodes last fall. I was already in the Marmaris area though. The ferry was interesting and I met and chatted with lots of different and interesting people. Of course, you would need to get to Marmaris from Istanbul. You could fly into Dalaman Airport then take a bus to Marmaris, if you have plenty of time. Rhodes was great!
