Istanbul May 2023 during election

We booked non-refundable/changeable flight thinking the election was in June but now it is May 14 and potential of May 28th. We arrive May 18-29. Thoughts from anyone familiar with Istanbul? Worried major attractions might be closed due to protests/ unrest. Wondering if we should book separate flight from Istanbul to somewhere else in Europe. We're coming from Seattle. Thanks

Sounds like a wonderful cultural adventure. Ho for it.

Or if you think the concern will mess up your enjoyment, then sure, book some flights. No one is better connected than Tutkish Air. About $200 to Budapest, 2 flights a day.
