There was a previous poster asking about mosquitoes in Venice, which reminded me to ask if there are a lot of mosquitoes in Istanbul, since there is a lot of surrounding water. When does mosquito season begin and end? Want to be prepared for month of October. I'd appreciate hearing replies from those who have been there.

I've never had a problem with mosquitos in Istanbul. I've been there in September and November, but not October. I suspect that the city has a control program for them.

Speaking to the idea of a control program, I did once experience pesticide spread aerially in the town of Selcuk, Turkey, near Ephesus. (It was May of that year.)
