Istanbul in March

Hello! My wife and I and our two kids (15 y/o M, 12 y/o F) were planning to visit Istanbul for several days at the end of March 2025. We've just realized that this will be during Ramadan. Does anyone have experience visiting during this time? Curious what we can expect and if it may better to plan our visit for another time? Thank you in advance for any info you can share!

I was in Istanbul during Ramadan and the most notable difference is that it gets busy after sunset as that’s when people go out to cafes. The last day when it ends—for Turkey that’s expected to be March 29–the sidewalks and streets were crowded as it seemed as though everyone in the city went out to celebrate.

I haven't been to Turkiye during Ramadan, but I recall reading that it is courteous not to eat or drink as you walk around outdoors during the fasting hours. You will be able to find places to eat meals, but I have no idea how easy that will be outside the very touristy zones; it might be no issue at all. Your hotel will be able to advise you.

My wife and I were on a RS tour this past spring during Ramadan. The weather was outstanding and the streets were crowded but not obnoxiously crowded. We actually enjoyed the festive atmosphere during the entire trip.
