Istanbul animal rescues/shelters that would accept cat?

Just when I was thinking how wonderfully cared for the cats of Istanbul are, I came across a little black kitten with a serious eye infection and not eating well. When I sat down she curled up in my lap & my heart melted. The sweetest little creature...

Do you know of any rescues or shelters that would be amenable to taking in a new cat, with donation? The area is by Gulhane Park, where food is left down, but this little one seems to be a loner and might not eat with colony. I did mention it to one official looking person, not sure if he'll follow up. And then there was a magical Istanbul hero, who had bags of meat and eye drops. Cat got some eye drops but I think will need systemic treatment.

Thank you for any ideas. I do suppose there is some industry around this ('travel hotels' for pets) but that sounds expensive and not sure this little princess of Sultanahmet will be happy in a cage

Unfortunately, no help here. But bless you for caring for this sweet little girl cat.

In Istanbul cats are often cared for by the community at large. Some are pets of individuals, but many are just on the streets subject to the good will of Istanbul residents (such as the man you saw with meat and eye drops). You may not find the resources to address this situation the same as you might at home. I mean no disrespect to your good will, just acknowledging that you may face a cultural difference in responding to sick street animals. It is difficult to see a creature suffer and it is admirable you wish to help. A quick Google search showed several rescues you could possibly contact. Best of luck. FWIW I returned from my trip to Turkey and adopted two rescue cats, it's definitely a place that inspires feline admiration.

I'd try telephoning veterinarians, because they probably would know whether there are rescues who could help. I don't know how easy it will be to find a veterinary practice with an English speaker, though.

I did some Googling and found these organizations that mention medical care:
