Wondering if anyone has gone to Goblekitepi archeological site on their own after Turkey tour ends. Seems like its a 19 hr car ride from where tour ends, thus we would probably fly . But when checking flights from IZMIR where RS tour ends, there are no direct flights, have to connect through Istanbul which seems a lot. Just wondering if anyone has a simpler way of doing this. Thanks for any help.

Have you looked at flying from Izmir to Sanliurfa Guney Anadoulu Projesi, (GNY) and taking ground transport the rest of the way?
Is that any better than flying through Istanbul?

As far as I know there are direct flights from Izmir to Sanliurfa at certain days of weeks.
If this doesn’t work with your itinerary here is another option ;
Take a flight to near cities : Diyarbakir or Mardin ..
These cities about 2.5 hours drive away from Sanliurfa .
Btw.. Once you are there , do not skip to visit Karahantepe,nearby Göbeklitepe, where they have just discovered a man on a leopard statue about 11.000 years old.
