I'm going to be leaving Cagaloglu Hammam at 8pm, going to my hotel near the New Mosque. Per Google Maps, it's about a 10-minute walk via Turkocagi St. Am I OK walking that by myself, or should I plan on a cab?
I was not alone but we never felt unsafe walking around Istanbul. But, we walked in the main streets, no side streets.
Do you mean near the Blue Mosque? That is a busy tourist area with plenty going on, I would feel comfortable walking at 8 p.m. (which for many is rather early). Just pay attention and don't engage with sales people or hawkers. Your biggest issue might be that you'll be so relaxed from your hammam experience!
I would wait and see if there seems to be a lot of foot traffic on your route. Plenty of people out, walking is fine. If there are few people, I’d opt for cab.
