Hotel Recommendations in Goreme

I was very well taken care of at the Stone House Cave Hotel in the center of Goreme. I booked direct with them at www.stonehousecave.com. They had a package deal for my airport pick up/drop off, a day sightseeing, and a balloon ride that was good value for money. I was traveling solo as a female in November 2020 under Covid protocol which they performed perfectly.

Do yourself a favor and eat at Pumpkin Goreme Restaurant a block or two away. Best restaurant in town!

For a transfer from Kayserei’s Airport to Goreme, a taxi will cost about €55 each way for the 80-minute ride.. A shuttle van which will have about 8-12 passengers will cost about €10. You can book a shuttle from a choice of several companies at www.GetYourGuide.com. You can also get the name of a shuttle company and book directly with them on their website in advance of your trip.
For accommodations, I have stayed at the Shoestring Cave House Hotel in Goreme and can highly recommend it. It’s name goes back to its founding as a place offering budget travelers accommodations in Goreme among the tall rock formations the locals call “castles.” Today, it’s more upscale with several authentic cave suites and a swimming pool near the observation platform from where you can watch the hot air balloons drift by so closely it seems as though you can almost reach out and touch them. www.shoestringcave.com
