Hello! It’s been 20 years since I traveled extensively in Turkey and presumably things have changed. I’d appreciate any suggestions from travelers who’ve stayed in Istanbul more recently for a comfortable hotel in Sultanahmet, preferably with a view of the sea and including breakfast. Thanks.
Mercure Istanbul Sirkeci Hotel.
A short tram ride from the key tourist sites, 1 block from the Spice Market, tram, and ferry terminals.

I recommend a well located little hotel the Muyan Suites. The staff was friendly and helpful about local sites or any question I had, arranging transit from and back to the far away airport, storing my luggage once I checked out on my last day. They let me sit on the terrace of the breakfast room with a beautiful view of ships and the sea from my 6:45 AM arrival (5 AM transatlantic flight arrival) until someone checked out and I could be given a room. I got my room around 10 AM (even though check in time is mid afternoon). While waiting they gave me breakfast and coffee even though I had not earned it by staying the night before. The easy to use tram is a 5 min. walk away and some of the main historic sites are walking distance. My room was very clean, comfortable, spacious, and sunny. The Istanbul airport is gigantic, but the hotel staff provided me with specific instructions of where to connect with my driver including a photo of that particular doorway, the transit company's signage. They arranged airport transfers for me a friend whose lodging was 5 blocks away. There were many breakfast choices and helpful wait staff. I was on a 40 hour stop-over but if I can come back I will stay at the Muyan Suites Hotel.
