At the end of our trip we have a very early flight home and are looking for a hotel near the airport, ideally with shuttle service, for our last night in Istanbul. Any suggestions?

The new airport is in the middle of nowhere, and I am not aware of any hotels close by. The "Yotel", located inside the Istanbul airport, is probably your best bet. There are actually two of them, one land-side and one air-side. It was a lifesaver for us when we were not allowed through passport control during the great Covid shutdown of March 2020. It's a decent enough hotel --- clean and quiet with a comfortable bed. Their website is here: https://www.yotel.com/en

Google Maps shows no less than 20 hotels within a 15 minute drive of the airport. So, you have a lot of choices.
As for the Yotel, I have stayed there 3 times. Very basic, not exactly cheap, but very functional, and very clean. If you can get boarding passes the day before then you can stay on the airside (the only one I have ever stayed at) and that would sure be convenient. Otherwise the other would have to be your choice.

Here is my suggest : Park Inn by Radisson Istanbul Airport, Odayeri(name of district). It is 4 stars hotel and clean. 15 minutes driving away from Airport. I am not sure if they have shuttle to airport, please check it.
