I loved the Haze Hotel in Istanbul but the rooftop restaurant (great food and great view) was already sold out for dinner most nights as it's popular with local clientele. Make a reservation in advance of your arrival. Breakfast was excellent but don't go last minute. There's a currency exchange with no commission a couple of blocks from the hotel - cross the street after the tram stop. Hotel arranged airport transport round trip and it was easy and on time - pay the hotel in cash, US, Euro or TL.

Thank you, smith279, we took your advice and made a reservation for the night of our arrival at the Haze Hotel. We were very glad we did, as it was crowded (Friday night) as you said. It was nice, that first night, to simply be able to go upstairs, enjoy the view, and point and choose a few things from their appetizer case of to make a delicious meal.
