From Izmir to Istanbul

What is the best way to get back to Istanbul airport from Izmir? What is the transportation cost and is one extra day enough time? Would we need to make a hotel reservation and then fly out after the tour has ended. Thanks to those who have experience.

Flying is quick, easy and impossibly cheap.

Depending on the scheduled departure time of your flight from IST, you might be able to just spend that last night in Izmir and simply connect in IST. There are many flights per day between Izmir (ADB) and IST, it's a milk run.

As above, book one of the many flights from Izmir’s Airport (ADB) to Istanbul. If you can, book a flight through Istanbul’s smaller SAW ( Sabiha Gocken Airport) which is very small and a breeze to use.

You can see what flights are available at www.Skyscanner.com

Are you on the RS Turkey tour? If so, your guide will coordinate the tour bus taking you from Kusadasi to Izmir airport to coincide with the departure times of the most people. The tour documents suggest not scheduling a departure flight no earlier than 11, but many with 10:30 flights to Istanbul were able to use the bus shuttle. I had a later flight and used Welcome Pickups to transfer to the Izmir airport. It's about an hour drive from Kusadasi. Flights to Istanbul are plentiful and cheap (well under $100 one way).

Fly to IST from Izmir. There is a train that will take you from central Izmir to the airport. Coming from the other direction you can catch it a Selcuk.
