Flight Change in Istanbul

Ive changed flights in Istanbul a half dozen times over the years. My rule is 2 hours minimum layover. This time there is a great flight to my destination but the lay over is only 1:20. Risk it???

Critical question: What happens if you miss it?

You sit in the airport for 90 minute then are on the next flight? Or is the next flight 3 days later and your plans collapse?

I assume you know about all the churn regarding switching to the new airport...

It's a redundant question. I miss the flight and I will be stuck for 24 hours. Just trying to convince myself to do it. But I know better.

My experience at Ataturk is that 1.20 is cutting it close in any case and there's a chance your checked bags won't make it. My last experience was flying from TLV to Morocco in October. One flight landed at one end of the airport, the other left from the other end. It took over half an hour just to walk from gate to gate, without taking into account the time for the security check on alighting (the lines seemed long, but the check was Mickey Mouse and only took about 10-15 minutes). If you'll be flying through the new airport, it's doubtful anyone knows yet.
