How far in advance can I apply for an e visa for a trip to Turkey. Some sites not to apply more than 3 months in advance. Does the visa have a limited valid date?

You should only use the official website to apply for your visa to Turkey, which you'll be able to do up to 3 months prior to your date of arrival:

You can enter Turkey any time during the 180 day validity period of your visa, but cannot stay beyond it, nor more than 90 days. I recommend that you set your visa start date to be a few days before your planned flight so that if your flight date changes to an earlier date, your visa will still be valid.

I applied for my eVisa on the official site, and I received it in five minutes. So there's no real reason to apply far in advance. They recommend you apply at least 48 hours in advance.
When you fill out the application, it asks you what date you are arriving in Turkey, so that starts the eligibility period. And you can enter and leave as often as you like during the eligibility period.
