I am on a Rick Steves Istanbul tour. Will we be able to get away during the tour to see the whirling dervishes while in Istanbul?

Yes, in fact during our Best of Istanbul tour, the guide inquired who would like to see the Whirling Dervishes and also the Hodjapasha Dance Evening - they're held in the same venue. I believe he arranged the tickets for everyone who was interested, which each person then paid for at the venue.
That was around night 4 or 5 of our tour.
