My wife and I have targeted the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul and considering the Dersaadet Hotel for accommodations. Can anyone recommend this hotel from experience? If not this hotel, perhaps another one in this area that you would recommend?
I haven't stayed there but stayed at a different property within a quarter mile of there. It's well located to all the main tourist sites. From street view on Google it looks like you'll have some tight street areas which may mean a taxi or shuttle driver can't get super close to the hotel (though they'll drive just about anywhere). For reviews, check booking.com as only people who have actually stayed at a property can leave a review (FWIW, it gets high marks on that platform). You don't need to book the hotel on that website, I use it for research.
We stayed at the Ottomon Imperial, which was recommended in Rick's book. A friend that stayed there several years ago loved it as much as we did.
I haven't stayed at the Dersaadet, but I have stayed at their sister hotel, Hotel Niles (in Beyazit), several times. It's family owned and operated, and I have had excellent experiences there.
