Hello, I'll be traveling to Ankara. I plan to exchange USD to Turkish currency at the Istanbul airport. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where at the airport for a good exchange rate? Thank you, Irene

Hate to say, but probably any one place is as bad as another.
You could use ATMs though, however just be aware that most all Turkish ATMs charge high fees, around 10% of the transaction.

Irene, I've never been there, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that one company has the franchise for the whole airport (and therefore, the same rates). That's been the case at every airport I've been to.

If you have more than a week until departure, consider going to your local bank to order some currency. I just went and ordered some Turkish Lira for my trip next month and it showed up in 2-3 days!! I like doing it this way, just one less thing to worry about in the airport. I just get enough to tie me over until I can find an ATM (if I even need one) but with more and more places taking credit cards I have been using less and less local currency lately.
