Cash for RS Best of Turkey tour and hot air balloon ride

My husband and I are taking the Best of Turkey tour next month, and I’m trying to decide how much to carry in Lira for the trip. I understand we should plan to pay for the hot air balloon ride in cash, plus many of our meals (we love trying street food).

If you’ve been on the tour - what was your experience? How much cash do you think we’ll need? Where did you exchange your money?

I scrolled through a few pages of previous posts and didn’t see this particular topic addressed - apologies if it’s a duplicate!

Check out the Money topic under Travel Tips. It’ll answer most of your questions. Preferred way to get local currency is by using a bank affiliated ATM once you arrive. Use a bank debit card that has no foreign exchange fees for the best exchange rate. If your bank charges these fees it might be advisable to open an account at a bank that doesn’t. Capital One and Charles Schwab offer no fx fees on ATM withdrawals and both also offer credit cards with no fees.
