I am interested in booking a bus from Istanbul - IST - to Goreme then a few days later from Goreme to Saniurfla. Every website I check is saying nothing available in mid October. I read in a blog where the person said he was unable to book online and you can book when you get there with a tour agent in Istanbul the day before travel. This is risky if I do not get a ticket. Can anyone please comment on this. Is it possible the buses are fully booked. Thank you.

IST to Goreme is a minimum 13-hour indirect bus journey that will involve transfers. You probably need to first book a ticket to the intermediary city from IST and then go on from there.
Since 80-minute flights will be much quicker and start at about $80, you might want to simply fly from IST to Nevsehir (NAV). Then transfer from Nevsehir to Goreme.

Thank you. From what I researched the trip from IST to Goreme overnight is 10+ hours? I can’t remember the station to catch that bus. You’re saying 20+ with intermediary stop. I’m not sure what the intermediary stop is. If it is indeed 20 hours just to Goreme then that is a game changer. I started looking into flights but thought the overnight bus will save me some time. I have to switch gears ....

If you do you will see many options especially if you scroll down the additional options.
