We are travelling with RS to Turkey this summer, in July. A Turkish friend has suggested Bodrum as a good destination point after the tour. Has anyone been there? Looking for suggestions on the amount of time to spend there and preferred activities, as well as suggested lodging. I have been on TripAdvisor but am looking for a little more. Thanks!
Lavanta Hotel in Yalikavak area.
El Vino Hotel (https://www.booking.com/hotel/tr/el-vino-suites.html) was stunning, I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Bodrum was beautiful and very relaxing. I would probably spend two to three full days there. The Knights castle and the Museum of Underwater Archeology were really interesting. You can also take a ferry to Kos and Rhodes, Greece directly from Bodrum. I took a short ferry to a small island called Datca and really enjoyed it.
Another Vote for El Vino Hotel and don't hesitate to eat in their rooftop restaurant. Awesome view and great food.
What about an experience to stay in a tipically Turkish town, I went to Tefenni and stayed at Tefenni Villas. Verry friendly people, loveley bungalow and nearby verry nice sightseeings for example Pamukkale, Salda Lake, Kibrya antik city.I had a wonderfull time!

From where will you fly home? Flight, bus, or rental car back to Istanbul?
With the tour ending July 7 in Kusadasi, weather will be getting warm. Bodrum itself did not excite me, so I'd probably try a smaller beach town. I also don't consider Kos to be a great sightseeing destination, but it's a transport hub for heading further into Greece (or you could go from Kusadasi to Samos island, or fly from Izmir to Athens, etc.).
