I know that Rick Steves your says to only bring a small carry on. I think that is for when you change hotels often on other tours. I believe we are staying at the same hotel the entire time and wondering if bringing a medium or large suitcase is okay. We will be arriving early a leaving later. Just curious as to if this okay for this tour.

I think you’ll be just fine bringing the size suitcase you can manage in your own. That’s a terrific tour, by the way, and Istanbul is an amazing city.

the only change of hotels on a city tour would be if you go early/stay late and choose to switch hotels. If you do, and plan to use public transport, I would not bring the biggest suitcase you own for easier maneuverability. If you check said bag, make sure your carry on has your important essentials (e.g., medications) and a change of clothes in the chance your big bag doesn't arrive at the same time you do.
Istanbul is amazing, enjoy the tour.

I hope you are bringing a larger bag so that you can haul away your Turkish treasures: Turkish tiles, Turkish Delight, scarves and other wonderful things! Turkish Delight is surprisingly heavy, as I learned.
