Just spotted an airport at the map at Balikesir that would bring a visitor within only an hour from Pergamon - does anyone know this airport and is it possible to fly there from Istanbul? Where can I find flights?
I've tried my flight networks and none of them are picking up this airport. It would be much better to fly there instead of to Izmir if someone is trying to get to Pergamon.
Any reply would be super!
http://www.dhmi.gov.tr/flightinformation.aspx shows a few flights from Istanbul S.Gokcen airport (not Ataturk Airport) by Turkish, Pegasus, and BoraJet. Try those airlines' own web sites for details.

Great! Just found a flight using that link - but why is the price listed at $30 USD? Is this just the price for the flight class/fare? Also this airport should work - please take a look:
The only concern I have is google maps - it's shown the airport at two locations - one 2:47 hours away from Troy, and the other 1:47. Can anyone else confirm the exact travel distance?
Does anyone know if there is car rental at this airport? If so, which company would you recommend? Please keep in mind I'm looking for an automatic car (diesel is okay) - and I'll be dropping at another drop off point.

I'm not clear on your question - does that seem too low or too high for you?
Flights within Turkey are cheap, as long as you buy them in advance; they're not even that crazy pricey at the last minute. So, if you're booking far enough in advance, $30 sounds correct. For instance, just out of curiosity, I looked at Turkish Air flights from Istanbul to Anakara, one way, for February 18, 2016. They are showing fares as low as 59 TRY, which converts to less than 20 USD. Of course, these are non-refundable, but at that price, you can afford to throw the ticket away if you end up not using it. Even leaving tomorrow, there's still two flights with seats at 89 TRY (roughly $30) and plenty of others at 129-157 TRY (42-51 USD).
