Aegean sea earthquakes off Izmir and Bodrum

Hi all,
Since January, there have been many earthquakes off Santorini and in the Aegean - most small but some 5.0+ in magnitude. The turkish press (Hurriyet Daily) has covered the quakes and the likely (unseen) damage to old buildings, as well as the potential for a Tsunami if a bigger quake occurs. Tourism in Santorini has been affected, but I haven't read anything about travel in Turkiye.

Has anyone been to the Aegean coast this year?

Also, has Izmir recovered from the wildfires last August?

Just trying to decide if I want to change my plans to visit Turkiye in May.

I don't think that the quake swarms around Santorini are affecting Turkey. However, the west coast of Turkey has a history of earthquakes and seismic activity. There is always a risk, just as there is in California. I wouldn't let it affect my travel plans.

I have not heard anything about how the Izmir area is recovering from wildfires.

Personally, I would not change travel plans for May. If I did change my plans, it would be more because of inflation and economic instability than because of earthquakes and wildfires.
