Going to Turkey in late April for 2 1/2 weeks with my girlfriend. Flying from Istanbul to Capadoccia (Goreme) to Pamakkale via bus to Selcuk (Ephesus, Kusadasi, Aphrodisia) then to Izmir to fly back to Istanbul. Any thoughts regarding safety and security issues given recent demonstrations in Istanbul ? Also, I did not purchase travel insurance when I purchased my airline tickets ... does Rick Steves offer travel insurance? Can you recommend a company? Thank you.

We have been in Istanbul since the 10 March 2014. We did see some of the police and the riot action. My suggestion is to get out of the area if anything should arise. In our case the students started shouting. It was apparent
We have waked by foot over the European ( old and new town) and the Asian side. We have always felt safe. The people here are friendly and very warm. We are glad we came.
