My tour to Turkey with RS was in May 2024. It was fabulous. My flight home out of the new Istanbul airport (IST) was early early morning and I didn't want to deal with traffic and transportation out of Istanbul and wanted to stay near the airport. The IST is so new, and the RS book of Istanbul which was last published in 2021 of Istanbul has little or no information about hotels in the new airports' area, which is way out of Istanbul up by the Black Sea. There is a hotel in the airport (I've forgotten its name) but they want $300+ a night which was out of my budget. On the internet I did find a medley of hotels in what they call the Ahnavutkoy area just below the airport. I threw a dart and happened on a nice clean newish hotel for @$30, with a less than 10 minutes taxi ride from the airport which cost @5 Euros. There was pasture out my back hotel window and the call to prayer that night was crystal clear and beautiful.
Hope this helps.
Nice to know there are decent options, the traffic in Istanbul is quite a nightmare. You might include the name of the property just so others know which one you stayed at, there are a lot of properties when you do a Google search.
Agree with CL -- knowing the name of the property is helpful!
